Wine Seminars

chef dinnersCalling all aficionados, novices and general lovers of wine! The Crested Butte Land Trust Wine & Food Festival features a series of wine seminars to learn and love the grapes in classroom seminar format. Each class will elevate your inner oenophile curiosities and desires!

Seminars will be conducted all three days of the Festival and be held throughout the Town of Crested Butte. Ticket prices will be only $30 per person for these 50-minute seminars. Guests must be at least 21 years of age. Each seminar is limited to 25 guests.

Tickets are not issued for these events. Your name will be on the list at the door. Upon purchasing your tickets, you will receive a confirmation that includes the location of your seminar.

Friday, July 25th

:: 12 – 1 p.m. lobar Sake for Wine Lovers with Satomi Furugaki
Sake has rapidly gained a distinctive recognition by the fine dining establishments in the world beyond the scope of cuisines. The seminar explores the sake’s culture and tradition, basic categories, production method, and versatility in food pairing options. The seminar also introduces Joto Sake’s premium sake selection perfect for wine aficionados’ palates.

: : 1 – 2 p.m. Timberline Restaurant Wine 101 with master sommelier Jay Fletcher
Enjoy this look into the art of blind tasting. Master Sommelier Jay Fletcher will show you his tricks on how to analyze the hidden components on 6 wines from around the World. You will learn the deduction techniques to discern the grapes, vintage, country of origin and production methods of the mystery wines.  This is a fun seminar for novices and experts alike.

Explore everything from Moonshine to the Mint Julep with a journey of what defines Americas only Native Spirit. A seminar on the top AVA's in Napa Valley form top small production, family owned wineries. Featuring Rudd Oakville Estate Red from Oakville, Crocker & Starr Stone Place Cuvee from St. Helena, Arietta Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon from St. Helena, and Fisher Mountain Estate Cabernet Sauvignon from Spring Mountain. We will discuss the difference in these regions, and how these wines drink young and how they will age.

: : 10 – 11 a.m. Marchitelli’s Gourmet Noodle Champagne: Bubbles, bubbles & more bubbles with Shelley Sale of Southern Wine & Spirits
Learn the different qualities of sparkling wine and Champagne from the managing partner of Colorado’s only Champagne bar. More so, you will come to appreciate every day celebrations that warrant popping the corks of some amazing bottles.
